Premier League Bias Exposed: Everton FC Hit with Record-Breaking Point Deduction

By Ronit Sahijawani

England’s top flight of football are staying firm as they deducted 10 points from Everton FC due to financial infractions. However, this action has brought a shocking controversy around bias and corruption in the Premeir League because ‘bigger’ clubs are yet to be fined for their major infringements.

During the last few weeks, multiple Premeir League sides including Chelsea and Manchester City have been suspected of breaking Premier Leagues profitability and sustainability rules, commissioned by the PL; these laws are enforcd to ensure that all PL sides progress financially, while making sustainable decisions within the commercial side of Football. Particular examples would include prioritsting the club academy growth, over large individual player acquisitions.

Amongst all the clubs that were allegedly infringing these protocols, stood Everton Football Club who are currently lead by Sean Dyche. The Toffees officially faced a 10-point deduction, which has pushed them back 5 spots [to 19th] on the Premeir League table. They are now joined by Burnley FC, led by Vincent Kompany, in the relegation zone.

This enormous punishment left the Everton Football Association completely shocked. English commentator and former Liverpool captain was unafraid of voicing his concerns; he stated that the 10-point deduction was far too ‘excessive’ and unjustified, considering Everton have been a part of the PL for countless years.

Pep Guardiola is particularly shaking on the inside considering that City could certainly be affected by a similar penalization. According to reports, City have faced roughly 115 financial charges due to financial breaches within the last decade. Furthermore, they refused to continue a signifcant investigation back in 2018. During a press conference, Pep stated that the charges they received were ‘completely different’, and outdated. Nonetheless, he attempted to remain calm as he stated that he would stay with the Citizens (nickname) even if they got demoted to ‘League One’.

In your opinion, was Everton’s heavy damnation reasonable?
