White Wonderland
By Alyssia Tse
When I woke up, my arms were tied behind my back, legs tied at the ankles, and my head was pounding. Walls were red and white, a blue door across from me, and a rose bush, half of which half the flowers were white and the other half were a bloody shade of red.
The door opened. A girl skipped in. Blonde hair with eyes and dress the same shade of blue. I recognised her, the girl who arrived in Wonderland, but she was… different. Gone was the bright smile, replaced with a large grin that could rival the Cheshire Cat. Gone were bright eyes, but dark, crazed eyes looking at me like a prize won.
She giggled as she skipped towards me, singing in a tone that made my skin crawl.
“Run, rabbit run
Rabbit run, run, run
Run, Rabbit Run
Rabbit run, run, run…”
She crouched before me, “You didn’t think I would find you, did ya, White Rabbit?”
My heart leapt into my throat. I kept my identity hidden and didn’t cause suspicion. How could she know?
She giggled again, “It wasn’t that hard. You thought I wouldn’t recognise that lovely pocket watch, did you?”
I forgot about my watch! Who wouldn’t recognise the colourful pocket watch?
“I think it’s time you go back to Wonderland, hm? Hatter has missed you~”
No. No, no, no, No! Not back to Wonderland! There was a reason why I fled!
She noticed my panic and started to drag me out of the room, “Everyone is going to be ecstatic when they see you! But I have to warn you, they’ve… changed since you last saw them”
We arrived in front of a box. It was quite short in height but made up by length and width. The girl opened the box and I froze. Inside was the mirror, the Wonderland Mirror. She didn’t waste time and she threw me in. I screamed as her laughs echoed in my ears.
I landed in a black puddle. I groaned as I took in my surroundings. Wonderland had changed quite a bit. Instead of bright fields and forests, black goo covered every inch of land, the plants withered and the skies dark. Bodies of others, strangers or residents of Wonderland lay still, I felt sick.
Gooey steps stalked towards me. I turned, and my heart stopped. It was a horrendous amalgamation of residents: the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and the Cheshire Cat. What had she done?
It continued towards me and with no escape, all I could do was wait for it to attack. But no attack came. Instead, it surrounded and tried to absorb me. I could feel myself merging with it when I lost consciousness.
The Amalgamation rose from where it absorbed White Rabbit. It could feel the head of the White Rabbit forming next to the Mad Hatter. Alice chuckled at the scene. She knew they called her crazy but the best people always were.
