Ever wondered what your life would be like if you and your two best friends were teleported from the human world to a place completely inhabited by amphibians? Ask Anne Boonchuy: one moment she was with her two friends on Earth opening a magical box, the next second, she was in a new world and living together with a loving frog family. The Russell Howard Hour

The world currently is not a very cheerful place to live in, but one British comedian has the keys to laughter during these dark times. Now in its fifth season, in every episode Russell Howard dissects the funniest parts of British politics, world events, cultural phenomena with his unique jokes and humorous videos to back up. And unlike most late-night shows, Russell often gives a spotlight to special issues. From talking about issues that society faces in his The Big Issue segment, or highlighting the best of humanity in Good Deeds, this show will leave you cheerful and not depressed. Also, be sure to check out the Playground Politics and Life Lessons segments in which Russell interviews children and comedians in these two different segments about their views on the world. Most episodes are posted on Youtube free to watch and you can explore them here, but do note that there is adult content and inappropriate language in the show.

The New New Rules by Bill Maher

This is an old book published before the 2012 election, but the jokes are still funny nearly ten years later. Comedian Bill Maher combined many of his favourite new rules segments. From politics to culture, there is nothing he won’t make a joke about. Also, watch out for the longer new rules sections, the editorial pieces commenting on the big problems facing America at that time, many of which are refreshing to read even in this day and age. You can only purchase this book on Amazon or Book Depository, because the author purchased the last copy available at an actual bookstore.
