The Monkey and the BuzBuzBeast

By Edward Wong

Illustrated by Edward Wong

Once upon a time in a place far away,

Filled with trees of pitch black and leaves of smoky grey,

A monkey with a bum most bright and red,

Was taking a nap on his scrunchy leaf bed.

When suddenly marched in the Buz buz beast,

With its long sharp teeth it started to feast.

First it gnashed the great banana tree,

Till it kneeled over on its knees.

Next it chomped the small apple tree,

And it too fell down to the beast's glee.

Last it smashed the frangipani tree,

and squashed quite a few innocent bees.

The beast was full, this story-driven to an end,

But not for long, for here comes our monkey friend.

The monkey roared, and cried and tried.

But nothing could save the trees that died.

And so the monkey set off on a quest,

To rid the world of the tree-eating pest.

Monkey eyed the east

For the vicious beast.

Monkey searched south

For the tree eating mouth.

Monkey went west,

And found the monster’s nest.

The nest was surrounded by bright sparkling lights,

And frightening sounds that roared through the night.

Tall looming shadows crept up to the sky,

Blocking the view for everyone's eyes.

Monkey tried with all his might,

To give the plants and animals their own right.

But Monkey’s efforts were not enough,

The Buz Buz beast was just too tough.

So let us help our brave, kind Monkey,

Together we can stop the beast from going hungry.
